You are called to sacrificial love for those around you. In caring for others well, you will make their lives more meaningful and abundant by reflecting Jesus.
Hi, I’m Joni, and back in tenth grade biology, I became fast friends with my lab partner, Diana. We were such good friends that when I broke my neck after graduation, she skipped her first semester in college to volunteer at my hospital: feeding me, helping with my bath, and befriending other young people on my ward. Looking back, Diana thought nothing of going the second mile. It made our friendship resemble John 15: “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” Diana did just that in order to make my life meaningful and abundant. And the fruit my life is now bearing will one day get credited to her account. She will get the reward. Because, when friendship costs you something, when love is sacrificial, the blessings always get shared and get mirrored right back to you.
