In obeying God, he may surprise you with giving you something you never would have dared ask him in the first place. Just do it.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and I’m sure you know the story of the ten lepers in Luke 17. They met Jesus as he was going into a village. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, ‘Jesus, Master, have pity on us!’ And when he saw them, he said, ‘Go, show yourselves to the priests.’ And as they went, they were cleansed. Now what is interesting is the ten lepers did not ask to be healed. They simply asked for pity. And this is the lesson: When Jesus asks us to do something, it pays to do it – even if it is a simple request. Because the end result may be much more than we could ever imagine. The lepers only asked for pity, but God gave them a complete healing. So, when the Lord asks you to do something small as it might be, just do it. Because in your act of obedience, God may well surprise you, giving you something you never would have dared ask of him.
