When your problems make you want to run away, make sure you’re running into the arms of your Savior.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And when life gets hard, sometimes we wish we could just escape. We want to escape the pile of bills, an irritating relationship at work. For me, I’d love to escape [to disappear] when my left hip starts hurting badly. For Moses, he looked for an escape after he committed murder. Elijah wanted to high tale it when Queen Jezebel started making threats. You know, I don’t know why we think that escaping problems will solve anything. And God wonders the same. It’s why he inspired the psalmist to say in Psalm 139: “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.” Friend, God is there for you, whether through a friend, the comforting words of a counselor, or the relief of an Advil. When your problems get you running, make sure you run to the arms of your Savior.
