Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. It was November of 1964. I was just a sophomore in high school, and I was at a church weekend retreat. The speaker that morning asked if any of us wanted to embrace Christ as Savior – I looked around, I swallowed hard, and I bravely stood up. That was the day I accepted Jesus in my heart. And when I did, I felt as though chains were falling off of me. I no longer felt chained to my boyfriend and his approval; or chained to my appearance; or how my hair looked, or how heavy I thought I was. With Jesus, I felt free. Can you recall that Galatians 5 moment when you were set free by Christ, no longer a slave to sin and the ways of this world? If so, then tell someone today who is still living with chains on. Friend, your story of salvation and freedom in Christ is worth remembering; and you know what? It’s worth telling.
