If you are suffering, let it be a nudge to yourself and those around you, about the love and eternal gift of life in Christ.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. When my mother reached her late 80’s, a series of strokes left her a shadow of her former self. Watching her die was so hard. And isn’t it strange how we expect the parade of life to go on forever, and when life finally runs out of steam, we feel cheated. But death is supposed to be hard. Look, Romans 6 tells us that “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ.” Now here’s the thing: If our sin only earns us death, could God have in mind for us to feel – I mean really feel – a tiny taste of what Jesus had to suffer through because of our sin? When it comes to the process of dying, God may want to remind us of the hell our sins would have earned us, were it not for Christ. Think about this today, especially if you are suffering; let it be a nudge to remind yourself and those around you love about the gift of God, eternal life in Christ.
