Remember that God is sovereign, even in your destinations.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada with a quick lesson from John 21. There, Jesus is talking to Peter about future things; about what’s going to happen in the years to come, when suddenly the conversation takes a turn. The Lord says to Peter in the 18th verse, “When you were younger you went where you wanted; but when you are old… Someone else will lead you where you do not want to go.” That’s an ominous prediction, and it’s a verse you never really notice until the day you are led to where you don’t want to go. It might be to a hospital or to a prison, or to a nursing home. Everything in you recoils at the idea – no one wants to go to those sorts of places. But as a Christian, just remember you are not being led so much by others, as by God himself. God is sovereign, yes, even over your destinations. That’s something very comforting to remember “when you are old.”
