Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and have you ever wondered what God was up to when he sent his Son, Jesus? Well, Mark 10:45 answers that. It says, “The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Right there, that sums it up, and John Piper expands on it, saying that, “When Jesus arrived on earth, his point was this: I’m not coming to recruit help. I’m not coming to be served. [I am] coming to serve. I’m [the one who’s] the Savior here. I’m the helper. I’m the rescuer… I’m the provider here. I’m the all-wise [God] here and [I am] the treasure. So, [people], don’t switch roles with me… Be needy, be satisfied, and be trustful.” Oh, that’s so great! And friend, Jesus is the Savior, not you or me. He’s the one who can fill our needs; not us. So lean on him and rely on him. It’s why Christ came in the first place.
