Tune in as Joni talks about a childhood poem regarding anxious birds. Unlike birds, you have a heavenly father who knows every need and invites you to cast your worries on him for lasting peace.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. It’s a poem that I grew up with, and maybe you did, too. Can’t remember if I heard it first from my mother, or my Sunday school teacher. The poem is by Elizabeth Cheney, and it goes, “Said the Robin to the Sparrow: ‘I should really like to know, why all these anxious human beings rush about and worry so?’ Said the Sparrow to the Robin: ‘Friend, I think that it must be, that they have no heavenly father such as cares for you and me.’” Well, aren’t you glad the birds are wrong on that count? Jesus even told us that if his heavenly father knows when a sparrow falls to the ground, then he more than knows your needs inside and out. You, friend, are worth far more to God than a sparrow or a Robin. So, take to heart today that little Sunday school poem; take to heart Psalm 55:22 where it tells you to “Cast all your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you.”
