Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Most people cannot fathom how I have lived with quadriplegia for over 50 years. But the truth is, my wheelchair has not been the biggest challenge for me. In fact, neither was my cancer—as difficult as it was. Oh, but dealing with chronic pain? That has been the hardest, the most grueling experience I have had to endure. But it is in my pain that I am reminded of 1 Samuel 7. There, Samuel built a memorial after a victory over the Philistines, proclaiming, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.” You know, I read that and I tell myself, Thus far the Lord has helped me, so why would He fail me now, and why would He forget me in the future? Friend, God constantly proves himself trustworthy. So, no matter what your pain or trial, your victory is in knowing that the same God who helped you in the past, promises to help you today, tomorrow, and always.
