Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and at Joni and Friends Family Retreats, we get the best volunteers! Always so willing to serve families with disabilities. And we get all kinds of people volunteering, even women in their 80s! What?! That’s right. Take Margie – an 83-year-old woman who walks with a limp. Margie knew she could not push a person in a wheelchair, but she could help in the nursery, assisting babies with Down syndrome – changing their diapers, holding them in her arms. Psalm 92 says, “They will still yield fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap and very green.” Margie, she sure is yielding fruit, even as an octogenarian and with her disability. Margie may be too old once she hits her 90s, but until then, this woman’s got a heart for service. So, what’s keeping you from serving, from going the extra mile? Come on over to joniandfriends.org and follow Margie’s lead.
