Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Back when I was on my feet, I used to show jump a thoroughbred horse named Augie. He was very trusting in that show ring. He had no idea of the complicated pattern of fences I expected him to hurdle. But still, he obeyed me—Augie trusted me, the one who was holding his reins; he trusted that I knew the course. And he knew that I would never ask him to hurdle a fence he couldn’t handle. And because he trusted me, he followed my directions. Oh, friend, Isaiah 1 says, “The ox knows his master, the donkey his owner's manger, but… my people do not understand.” You know, sometimes we fail to trust the one who has laid out the hurdles and obstacles ahead of us. Oh, if we were only more Augie! A horse who accepted the wisdom of his rider. So, take a lesson from a horse. Yield to the one who is holding the reins in your life today. He knows what’s up ahead.
