When you suffer with grace and endurance, you become a living testimony—like a burning bush. Let others marvel at God’s sustaining power in your life.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. In Exodus 3, Moses beholds something totally unnatural – it’s a bush that’s on fire yet is not consumed. In verse 3, it says, “So Moses thought, ‘I will go over and see this strange sight — why the bush does not burn up.’” Christians who suffer greatly, and yet graciously, often cause the same curious response. They are a spectacle of grace to the church, like flaming bushes unconsumed, causing onlookers to ask, like Moses, “Why is this bush not burned up?” John Newton has observed that the strength and stability of these believers – these fellow Christians who endure great pain yet keep their hearts bright and their smiles fresh – such strength can only be explained by the miracle of God’s sustaining grace. So, friend, if you’re suffering, you are a fiery bush. You are also on display, causing others to marvel at God’s grace in your life!
