Your identity is not in yourself – it is in Christ. Rehearse this over and over whenever you have a free moment.
I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and it seems that everyone’s talking about their identity nowadays. Like, “Who am I?” That’s what people are wondering. And so, Christian, be on guard. Know that your identity is not in yourself – it is in Christ. He purchased you, and you are not your own – it says in Romans. You are God’s child, and you are heading for heaven. Your Savior is your brother and so is every other Christian. Say this, would you, over and over to yourself? Keep rehearsing it as you wait for class to begin or for the casserole to bake. Whenever your mind is free, ask God to enable you to live as a blood-bought Christian, ’cause Satan would like for you to forget things like this, but don’t you listen to him. Rehearse Gospel truth about yourself day after day, ’cause you are Christ’s and Christ is yours. This is your identity, and guess what? This is also your victory. Never forget it.
