Celebrating the faithful service of others not only honors them but also acknowledges God’s recognition of their dedication.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And at my age, many of my friends are retiring. I’m thinking of my good friend and co-laborer in Christ, Mike Yuen who recently retired as our Director of Visual Media. For over 20 years, Mike used his skills with photography and video to help us share the story of Joni and Friends. It’s why I was so happy when our staff celebrated Mike’s life of service with a big retirement party. Even though we are all convinced Mike will never retire from serving Jesus, it still was our delight to honor him. John 12 says, “My Father will honor the one who serves me.” Today, take John 12 to heart: If you know someone who’s been a faithful servant in the kingdom, find a way to celebrate their work. With a note on their desk, a round of applause, or even a special party—let them know that our Father in Heaven [and you] really appreciate their service.
