You may suffer, but you don’t have to suffer alone.
Hi, this is Joni Eareckson Tada and because I deal with chronic pain, sometimes I'm tempted to think that I'm the only one – I'm the only one who suffers this way, this badly. It’s hard to describe, but that feeling of being alone in suffering is absolutely terrifying [like, nobody could possibly be hurting as much as I do]. Well, you know what I tell myself? There are plenty of people who suffer as much as I do and a whole lot worse. So, I am not alone. And that fact alone bolsters my faith in God – because if his grace can help those people; his grace can help me. In the very beginning, in the book of Genesis, God tells us that it is not good for a man to be alone. So, friend, if you are suffering and feeling like you’re the only one, please know that there are others; others who are hurting. You can find strength from others who are hurting. Yes, you may suffer, but you don’t have to suffer alone.
