Don’t forget to pencil in “quietness” in your calendar.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. I love reading in the gospels about the last day of Jesus’s earthly life. Every moment—from his civil trial to his crucifixion, and burial—everything was ticking off according to God's sovereign timetable. All the details in Isaiah 53 and Psalm 22 were fulfilled. So, if we know God was in control of Jesus’s life schedule, why can’t we trust him with our schedule? Why do we work 70 hours a week and never take a day off? Isaiah 30 says, “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength.” There you have it. When it comes to your schedule, remember God has it under control. His timing is perfect and never fails. But, remember he wants you to rest, so don’t forget to pencil in “quietness.” For as you do, it will be a way of trusting in your sovereign Savior, and therein lies your strength!
