Today, watch for opportunities to serve the Lord Jesus with His whole heart of compassion.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And I once heard someone say that all ministry for the Master must have the sacrificial spirit of the Master. In other words, we can do many things worthy for Christ: serve the disabled, care for the orphans, help the poor, feed the hungry, minister to the elderly, and so much more. All these are great acts of service. But if our heart is not broken over these needs, if there is no degree of sacrifice or heartfelt compassion, if there is no groaning in prayer for these people – it is not Christian ministry. We simply cannot heal the wounds that we do not feel. We must bleed if we would be ministers of the saving blood of Christ. Ephesians 5 underscores this when it says we should serve wholeheartedly; that is, pour your whole heart into your service. Today, watch for opportunities to serve the Lord Jesus with His whole heart of compassion.
